Zachary Grinspan, MD, MSc

Dr. Grinspan is Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Neurology, and Population Health Sciences at Weill Cornell Medicine, where he serves as Vice Chair of Pediatrics for Health Data Science and Director of Pediatric Epilepsy Research. He is board certified in child neurology and epilepsy, with advanced training in biostatistics (MS) and medical informatics (postdoctoral fellowship). He leads several multi-institutional research initiatives, including the federally funded Pediatric Epilepsy Learning Healthcare System (PELHS), a consortium of over 20 pediatric epilepsy centers dedicated to reducing seizures and their consequences through iterative cycles of health data collection, evidence generation, and practice change. His clinical trial portfolio includes observational natural history studies (e.g., MEF2C syndrome), repurposed therapeutics (e.g., glycerol phenylbutyrate for monogenic developmental and epileptic encephalopathies), and first-in-human gene therapies and antisense oligonucleotides for ultra-rare neurogenetic disorders. As a practicing clinician-scientist, he draws on a broad methodological portfolio, including clinical informatics, biostatistics, comparative effectiveness, qualitative methods, and clinical trial design, to improve outcomes for children with epilepsy.
