Dr. Rajsekar (Raj) R. Rajaraman, MD, MS, is an Associate Professor of Pediatric Neurology and Psychiatry at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and a pediatric epileptologist at Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA. He is triple board-certified in Child Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology, and Epilepsy. Dr. Rajaraman directs both the UCLA CDKL5 Center of Excellence and the UCLA Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) Center of Excellence, where he leads multidisciplinary care and translational research for rare genetic epilepsies in children and adults.
His research focuses on the intersection of genomics, neurophysiology, and clinical trials in developmental and epileptic encephalopathies. He has served as principal investigator on more than 20 clinical trials and research studies, including NIH- and Department of Defense–funded projects, with a particular emphasis on biomarker development using advanced EEG analytics to predict seizure onset and treatment response.
Dr. Rajaraman has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading neurology and epilepsy journals and has been recognized with multiple honors, including the 2026 TSC Champion Award and the 2018 American Epilepsy Society Young Investigator Award. He is an active leader in national and international epilepsy communities, serving on advocacy, diversity, and clinical committees, and frequently speaks at major conferences. His work is closely aligned with patient advocacy organizations, including the TSC Alliance and the International Foundation for CDKL5 Research, advancing both therapeutic development and patient-centered care
