Eric Marsh, PhD, MD

Dr. Marsh is a Distinguished Professor in the Departments of Neurology and Pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. His laboratory studies rare neurogenetic disorders that lead to epilepsy, cognitive, behavioral, and motor disabilities. His research spans from basic mechanisms of network function using mouse models (Arx, Iqsec2) to electrophysiological biomarker development and natural history studies in rare developmental epilepsies, such as Rett Syndrome and CDKL5 Deficiency Disorder. He has been involved in clinical trials utilizing small molecules, ASOs, and genetic therapies for these conditions. Dr. Marsh is Co-PI of the CHOP/Penn Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center (IDDRC) and Neurodevelopmental Disorders T32. He is Co-Director of the Penn/CHOP Orphan Disease Center and provides holistic clinical care informed by best practices and current research. He serves on advisory boards for multiple foundations, including the LGS Foundation, CURE Epilepsy, and the FOXG1 Research Foundation. He is a member of the American Epilepsy Society, where he has served on numerous committees and currently co-chairs the Benchmark Stewards Committee.
